FiveM: Update FXServer Before October 15 or Players Will No Longer Be Able to Connect

FiveM server administrators now have a firm deadline: October 15, 2026. Cfx.re has made FXServer 35245 the new Recommended server version and confirmed that players will no longer be able to connect to older FXServer versions once the compatibility window closes.

The change accompanies FiveM support for GTA Online's The Kortz Center Heist, but its consequences go much further than access to the latest GTA V content. Cfx.re is changing the way FiveM handles GTA V Title Updates, making this an important migration for every active server owner.

FXServer 35245 is now the Recommended FiveM version

On August 20, Cfx.re officially promoted FXServer 35245 to Recommended status.

This is not simply another routine server artifact release. Starting with version 35245, the FiveM client changes how it handles different GTA V Title Updates when connecting to multiplayer servers.

Cfx.re recommends updating to FXServer 35245 or later before October 15 so administrators can validate the new behaviour without having to perform an emergency migration at the last minute.

FiveM is changing how GTA V game builds are handled

The technical change behind this migration concerns the way FiveM switches between different versions of GTA V.

With FXServer 35245 and later, the FiveM client will always run the latest stable GTA V executable. The server then determines which Title Update content the client should load through the existing setting.

This mechanism had already been available experimentally since 2024, but Cfx.re is now making it the default behaviour.

In practical terms, FiveM no longer needs to swap GTA V executables simply because a server requires content from another supported game build. Instead, the client remains on the current stable executable while loading the game content selected by the server.

For players, most of this happens behind the scenes. For server administrators, however, it means that keeping an old FXServer installation indefinitely is no longer an option.

October 15 is a real compatibility deadline

The most important part of the announcement is the date.

October 15, 2026 marks the end of the compatibility window. After that date, FiveM clients will no longer be able to connect to FXServer versions older than the new supported branch.

This makes the migration different from the usual situation where an administrator may deliberately remain on an older artifact because a particular script or resource works better there.

An outdated server may continue running as a process, but if FiveM clients can no longer establish a connection to it, the server is effectively unusable for its community.

What should FiveM server administrators do?

The immediate objective is simple: move to FXServer 35245 or a more recent supported version and make sure your existing server environment still behaves correctly.

Before updating a production server, keeping a backup of your configuration, resources and databases remains a sensible precaution. Once the new FXServer artifact is installed, administrators should restart the server and test the systems their community depends on most.

• Verify that the server starts without new errors.
• Test player connections and reconnects.
• Check your framework and core resources.
• Test custom scripts, maps, vehicles and other server resources.
• Review any configuration that previously relied on .
• Confirm that the intended GTA V content is still selected through .
• Monitor the server console and logs during your first player sessions.

The exact amount of testing required will obviously depend on the complexity of the server. A small private environment with only a few resources should be easier to validate than a heavily customised roleplay server containing hundreds of scripts and assets.

Cfx.re itself explicitly recommends performing the update before the deadline so administrators can test the new behaviour on their own schedule.

Support for The Kortz Center Heist arrives with the new branch

The rollout also introduces FiveM support for GTA Online's The Kortz Center Heist.

When Cfx.re announced the update on August 20, support was available on FiveM's Canary release channel for server versions 35245 or higher. The team said it would progressively push support to the other release branches and announce that progression through the official Cfx Discord.

This makes FXServer 35245 the starting point not only for the new Title Update architecture but also for servers wishing to experiment with content associated with the latest GTA Online update.

Administrators do not need to force their communities onto the newest content immediately. The important distinction is that the FXServer artifact itself needs to be modernised, while continues to control which supported GTA V Title Update content a server requests.

The safest approach is to migrate now, not in October

For FiveM communities, October 15 may still look comfortably far away. For a production server with a large collection of scripts and custom resources, however, the useful deadline is much earlier.

Updating now gives administrators several weeks to test their environment, identify incompatible resources and follow upcoming FiveM releases without putting their community under unnecessary pressure.

The important point is therefore straightforward: FXServer 35245 is no longer merely an optional upgrade. It is the beginning of the new supported FiveM architecture, and older server versions have a defined end date.
