How to set up Fast Download ?

Fast Download

Fast Download (FastDL) serves custom maps, sounds and materials over HTTP. Players download them much faster than the built-in game transfer. It is used on Counter-Strike, Garry's Mod, Team Fortress 2 and other Source / GoldSrc servers.

Enable Fast Download

  1. Open your server in the VeryGames panel.
  2. Enable the Fast Download option.
  3. Copy the FastDL URL the panel shows after the job finishes.

Upload the same custom files (maps, sounds) to the FastDL path the panel documents, usually with FTP. The file names must match what the game server sends to the client.

Put the URL in the game config

In `server.cfg` (or the cvar list the panel opens), set:

  • `sv_downloadurl` — the FastDL URL from the panel (with the trailing path if shown)
  • `sv_allowdownload 1`
  • `sv_allowupload 0` on public servers (typical)

Reboot the server from the panel. Do not change IP or port.
