What is a dedicated IP and when do you need it ?

Dedicated IP

By default several game servers can share one public IP and use different ports. A dedicated IP is attached to your service, not to one game server. Every instance on that service shares this IPv4. Most games do not need it. A few setups become simpler with one.

Shared vs dedicated

  • Shared IP — players join with `IP:port` from the panel. The port is unique on that machine. This is the default.
  • Dedicated IP — the service has its own IPv4, shared by all game servers on that service. DNS A records and some game browsers look cleaner. The panel still writes the port; you do not configure it.

When you actually need it

  • FiveM / CFX listing — some license and DNS setups are easier on a dedicated IP (one address in the server list, fewer port surprises).
  • Custom domain — an A record on a dedicated IP avoids sharing the address with another customer’s server.

Connecting from the game client does not change: players still use the IP and game port shown in the panel. They do not type a port you invented.

What does not change

Slots, DDoS protection, FTP, MySQL and the panel stay the same. A dedicated IP is not a faster machine. Order it from the panel options if you need it; the new address appears on the server page after the job.
