Enshrouded 1.0 launches October 15: what server owners need to know
Enshrouded is finally leaving Early Access on October 15, 2026. Keen Games is preparing its biggest milestone yet with new content, progression changes, combat additions, quality-of-life improvements and a major optimization pass. For communities running persistent multiplayer worlds, now is the right time to prepare their Enshrouded server for the transition to version 1.0.
When does Enshrouded 1.0 release?
Keen Games has officially confirmed that Enshrouded 1.0 will launch on October 15, 2026, bringing the game's Early Access period on Steam to an end.
The date was first announced by Keen Games in its official 1.0 release date reveal. The Steam store also now lists October 15 as the day Enshrouded leaves Early Access.
This is much more than a version-number change. Keen has spent the final months of Early Access revisiting several of Enshrouded's core systems while preparing new content for the full release.
What is changing with Enshrouded 1.0?
Keen Games has not yet published the complete 1.0 release changelog, but several major changes have already been confirmed.
Progression will extend significantly beyond the current game. The maximum player level increases to 50, while equipment can reach level 55. Keen has also confirmed a new biome with a new enemy tier, additional variants for existing enemy factions and further changes to character movement and combat.
Magic receives one of the most substantial overhauls. Nine new spells have been announced, including Mana Drain, Entangle, Blizzard, Ball Lightning and several summon spells. Eternal arrows are also being expanded, while the skill tree receives additional changes.
Important for existing characters: Keen says the changes to skills and their placement mean the skill tree will be reset with 1.0. Players will therefore need to redistribute their skill points after the update.
These additions follow Update 8: Forging the Path, which Keen described as the final major update before full release and which introduced the first version of Adventure Sharing alongside major changes to combat, equipment and progression.
Performance is a major focus for the 1.0 update
One of the most interesting aspects of Enshrouded 1.0 for long-running multiplayer worlds is not a new weapon or biome, but optimization.
Keen Games has explained that after several years of adding systems, environments and visual improvements, one of its major objectives for 1.0 is to improve overall game performance, including on lower- and mid-range hardware.
For dedicated-server communities, performance work around a major release is particularly relevant. Persistent Enshrouded worlds can accumulate large player-built settlements and long-running progression, so stability and efficient resource usage matter far more than they do in a short private session.
How to prepare an Enshrouded server for 1.0
The final dedicated-server changelog has not yet been released, so server administrators should avoid making assumptions about the exact migration process. There are nevertheless a few sensible preparations to make before October 15.
- Create a fresh backup of your world before installing the 1.0 update.
- Plan an update window for your community instead of updating a busy persistent server without warning.
- Keep clients and the dedicated server on compatible versions once the update is deployed.
- Check the official 1.0 changelog when Keen publishes it for any server-specific configuration changes.
- Warn players about the skill-tree reset so returning characters do not immediately head into the new content without spending their refunded points.
This is especially important for established communities. A major release attracts returning players as well as newcomers, which can produce a sudden increase in concurrent activity on worlds that may have been relatively quiet during the final months of Early Access.
Will Enshrouded 1.0 wipe existing servers?
Keen Games' current 1.0 announcements do not announce a mandatory server wipe. That is an important distinction: there is currently no official reason to tell players that their existing world will automatically disappear on October 15.
However, the full release contains substantial progression, world and gameplay changes, and the complete launch changelog is still to come. Backing up a persistent world before applying such a large update remains the safest approach.
We will know more once Keen publishes its full 1.0 highlights and release notes in October. The studio is still revealing features in the run-up to release, so additional details may arrive before launch day.
Why use a dedicated server for Enshrouded 1.0?
Enshrouded is particularly well suited to persistent multiplayer. Bases, terraforming, exploration and progression all benefit from having a world that remains separate from the availability of one player's PC.
A dedicated server gives a group a central world that can be managed independently, making it easier to organise a community around long-term progression and the new content arriving with 1.0.
Enshrouded has also gained more dedicated-server administration features during Early Access, including server-list filtering tags, improved server discovery and persistent player bans. Version 1.0 therefore arrives on top of a multiplayer foundation that is considerably more mature than it was when Early Access began in January 2024.
