Enshrouded 1.0 Won't Wipe Your World: Save Conversion and Crossplay Explained
Your Early Access world can come with you into Enshrouded 1.0.
Ahead of the October 15, 2026 launch, developer Keen Games has confirmed that existing saves will remain compatible, although their format will change. Players will not be forced to start from scratch. There is one important limitation for groups planning to play together, however: PC–PS5 crossplay will not be available at launch.
Enshrouded 1.0 supports existing Early Access saves
Keen Games answered one of the biggest pre-launch questions in its official launch FAQ published October 13: saves created during Early Access can still be used after Enshrouded reaches version 1.0 on October 15.
The studio also confirms that save files will be converted to a new, more efficient format. In other words, a large shared world, established base or long-running community does not have to be abandoned solely because the game is leaving Early Access.
Important distinction: save compatibility does not mean the format stays unchanged. Keen Games has not promised a way to reverse the conversion or load a converted 1.0 save in an older build.
This is especially relevant for dedicated server administrators: preserve a copy of the last working Early Access save before allowing the 1.0 update to convert it.
Why Keen Games still recommends a fresh start
Although continuing an existing world is supported, Keen Games strongly encourages starting over for players who want to experience the many improvements made to the world and the opening hours of Enshrouded.
That is a recommendation, not a mandatory wipe. For a group with an extensive base and months of shared progress, keeping the current world may be the sensible choice. A new group—or returning players who want to rediscover the beginning—may prefer a fresh adventure.
Also, do not confuse the skill-tree reset announced for version 1.0 with a reset of the entire world. The combat changes include a reset of allocated skill points because the skill tree is being revised; this does not contradict the confirmed compatibility of Early Access saves.
No PC–PS5 crossplay when Enshrouded 1.0 launches
The same FAQ settles another major question for multiplayer communities: Enshrouded will not support cross-platform play at launch. Players on PC and PlayStation 5 therefore cannot join the same multiplayer session on October 15.
Keen Games says cross-platform play is in development, but has given no estimated release date. Groups split between PC and PS5 should not organize their launch-day plans around crossplay, and should not assume that using a dedicated PC server removes this restriction.
For multiplayer groups: continuing your existing PC-hosted world is possible, but it does not make that world accessible to PS5 players at launch.
Dedicated server checklist before updating to 1.0
Keen Games has confirmed save conversion, but has not described it as reversible. The following precautions are therefore recommended for administrators running a persistent Enshrouded community.
- Warn your players about the update window and ask them to log out before maintenance.
- Stop the server cleanly before copying the save data, to reduce the chance of capturing an incomplete write.
- Make and keep a complete pre-1.0 backup of the server's save files and relevant configuration, ideally outside the live server directory.
- Update the server and game clients to the compatible 1.0 versions when they become available.
- Test the converted world with your group: check access, buildings, inventories, progression and general stability before declaring the migration complete.
Do not treat a possible downgrade as a substitute for a backup. If you need to return to an earlier setup, restoring your archived pre-conversion save may be necessary; conversion back to the old format has not been confirmed.

A thank-you gift for Early Access players
Keen Games has also confirmed three exclusive decorative props for players who supported Enshrouded during Early Access. Eligible players will be able to claim them using the “Redeem Add-Ons” option in the Escape menu. They can also visit friends and place the decorations in their worlds, even if those friends bought the game later.
Players who already own Enshrouded on PC during Early Access do not need to buy the game again for version 1.0.
