SCUM Halloween Update 1.3.5: New Quest, Official Wipe and Server Hotfix

SCUM's Halloween 2026 update is now live! Released on October 28, version 1.3.5.0.172191 introduces a limited-time catacomb quest, spooky rewards and several gameplay improvements.

But this update also brings major changes to the multiplayer experience: an official server wipe, completed server merges and an emergency performance hotfix. Here's everything survivors and server administrators need to know.

Developed by Gamepires, SCUM is a hardcore open-world survival game where players must manage their character's needs, gather resources, build bases and survive encounters with both hostile creatures and other players. Its persistent multiplayer worlds make server management a particularly important part of the experience.

A Halloween Quest Awaits in SCUM's Catacombs

Halloween has arrived on the island, bringing decorated graveyards and a mysterious new mission. To begin the event, visit any General Goods trader and accept a quest involving the island's catacombs.

Players must then investigate the graveyards and perform a special ritual between midnight and 4:00 AM in-game time. Completing the quest requires bringing back what the ritual summons. Make sure to carry enough ammunition before heading into the unknown!

New Halloween Rewards

  • Coffin Bed – A fitting place for a survivor to rest.
  • Hanging Jack-o'-Lantern – Seasonal decoration for your base.
  • Candleholders – Give your shelter a haunted atmosphere.
  • Cooking Cauldron – Add a sinister touch to your cooking setup.

The update also introduces Corpse Soup, a new recipe that players can prepare using active graveyard cauldrons. Its nutritional properties depend on the ingredients used.

Don't miss it! The Halloween event remains available until the end of November 2026.

SCUM's Official Server Wipe: What Was Reset?

Alongside the Halloween update, Gamepires completed a major restructuring of its official multiplayer infrastructure. Selected servers have been merged, character transfers are complete and a partial wipe has been applied across official servers.

Reset by the wipe

  • Bases and constructions
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Fame Points
  • Quest progression
  • Carried and banked cash

Retained by survivors

  • Character attributes
  • Learned skills
  • Gold reserves

Only the retained character's gold carries over. Cash not converted into gold before maintenance was lost.

Official Hardcore servers have also been retired. Transferred survivors now follow their destination server's gameplay rules. Only one character was retained per merged server group.

What About Private SCUM Servers?

Private and community servers were not affected by this official-server wipe. Their worlds and progression were not subject to the forced reset carried out on Gamepires' official infrastructure.

Gamepires has also confirmed that no additional official-server wipes are planned for the remainder of 2026.

Emergency Hotfix Targets Server Slowdowns

Shortly after the Halloween update went live, some SCUM players experienced server performance problems. Gamepires investigated the reports and identified an issue involving player connections and ban-list checks.

These operations could trigger slowdowns, disrupting the multiplayer experience following the server merges and wipe.

October 28, 2026 – Emergency Fix Deployed

Gamepires deployed a hotfix during the evening of October 28 to address the connection and ban-list issue. The development team confirmed that monitoring was continuing to assess the fix's effectiveness.

This is particularly relevant to SCUM server administrators, as stable player connections and efficient server-side checks are essential for busy multiplayer communities.

The hotfix addresses the identified slowdown, but Gamepires has not yet declared that every performance issue has been permanently resolved.

Additional Gameplay and Server Administration Fixes

Version 1.3.5 also introduces a substantial collection of bug fixes affecting everyday survival activities and multiplayer administration.

Gameplay Improvements

  • Base building: Fixed grass reappearing beneath foundations after leaving and returning to an area.
  • Harvesting: Mature garden plants can now be collected more reliably.
  • Vehicles: Fixed unusual collisions and a multiplayer interaction bug that could teleport players.
  • Bunkers: Corrected armory lockers that could relock without replenishing loot.
  • Fishing: Resolved several issues involving fishing lines, equipment and catches.

Server Administration Improvements

  • Destroyed turrets no longer incorrectly count toward the turret decay threshold.
  • Sentry, Attack Sentry and Dropship damage multipliers now apply correctly.
  • The #setfakename command now updates the displayed name for other players.
  • The #VisualizeVehicleTrajectory command has been fixed.
  • The Enable BCU Locking setting now correctly waits for a server restart before taking effect.

Together, these improvements should make SCUM's persistent worlds easier to manage and reduce several frustrating multiplayer issues.

Looking ahead, Gamepires is also preparing controller support, a Tattoo System and wider Photo Mode access in a future update.

SCUM's Halloween update is more than a seasonal event. Between the new quest, official-server restructuring and emergency performance fix, version 1.3.5 marks an important step for the game's multiplayer communities. And for players who prefer a persistent world under their own rules, private servers remain an attractive alternative to the official infrastructure.
