Enshrouded hotfix 1.0.0.3: safer save migration, with a warning for some bases

Loading an established world should be more reliable after Enshrouded hotfix 1.0.0.3. Released on October 21, 2026, the update addresses save conversion problems and an endless multiplayer loading screen. One specific migration repair has a trade-off: water in the affected base must be added again.

What changes for older Enshrouded saves?

Keen Games has fixed a rare crash during save migration. The patch also improves character conversion when additional backpack slots contain invalid entries: affected characters should now migrate, while the items that blocked the process are left out.

For a shared world, include character inventories in your post-update checks. A successful connection alone does not tell you whether every member of the group has recovered their expected equipment.

Why can water disappear from some bases?

Another migration improvement handles Flame Altars positioned incorrectly within the world's voxel grid. The conversion now corrects their position, but cannot load the water belonging to those affected bases. Players must add that water again where needed.

This warning applies to the specific Flame Altar migration case. The changelog does not describe water loss across every base or every converted world.

Ask your group to inspect its established bases after conversion. If water is missing, record which location is affected and keep the original save copy available before making further changes.

A fix for the endless multiplayer black screen

Hotfix 1.0.0.3 also addresses an endless black screen encountered by some players when loading a multiplayer game. The update includes fixes for water-simulation crashes, alongside other stability improvements.

What should dedicated server admins check?

For communities playing on a VeryGames Enshrouded server, we recommend treating the update as a short maintenance operation with a clear validation step:

  1. Preserve your saves. Stop the server cleanly before copying its current data, and retain any archive made before the original 1.0 conversion. Keep that older copy separate from routine backups.
  2. Check the deployed version. Verify the server's patch level against the official release reference above, and have players update their clients. The changelog alone does not confirm which revision your hosted instance is running.
  3. Test with your group. Check multiplayer loading, inspect established bases and ask players to review inventories before resuming normal play.
  4. Document remaining issues. If loading still fails, keep the relevant logs, version details and a description of the affected save for support.

These are recommended administration precautions. For the wider context behind the format change, read our guide to Enshrouded 1.0 save compatibility and server backups.
