Gray Zone Warfare enters Alpha on October 22 with Rogue Ops Update 0.5

Gray Zone Warfare has dated its next major milestone. Update 0.5, titled Rogue Ops, launches on October 22, 2026 and officially moves MADFINGER Games' tactical shooter from Pre-Alpha into Alpha. Supporter Edition owners will be able to play three days earlier, from October 19.

Gray Zone Warfare officially enters Alpha

Rogue Ops is more than another content update for Gray Zone Warfare. MADFINGER Games describes Update 0.5 as the next major development milestone for the game, marking its official transition from Pre-Alpha to Alpha.

The update will launch for everyone on October 22. Players who own the Supporter Edition will once again get early access to the new version through a Supporter Preview beginning October 19.

Rogue Ops schedule

  • October 19: Supporter Preview begins
  • October 22: Update 0.5 launches for all players
  • Development status: Gray Zone Warfare moves from Pre-Alpha to Alpha

A new Hideout and crafting system

One of the biggest additions in Rogue Ops is an entirely new gameplay loop based around crafting and building a personal Hideout.

Players will collect resources while operating across Lamang and use them to craft items and develop their base between missions. The system should give recovered materials a much larger role in long-term progression instead of making every deployment revolve exclusively around missions and equipment.

MADFINGER Games is also introducing the possibility of becoming a rogue PMC, opening the door to new smuggling activities and another way to interact with the game's economy.

Why it matters: crafting, Hideout progression and smuggling create a more persistent gameplay loop between deployments, giving squads more reasons to gather resources and return regularly to the game world.

Three major new locations to explore

Rogue Ops will also expand Lamang with several large new areas. Three locations have already been revealed:

Radio Observatory

A new large-scale location designed to expand exploration and combat opportunities.

Asylum

Another major point of interest joining Lamang with Rogue Ops.

Military Research Site

A new military location that should provide additional high-risk exploration opportunities.

MADFINGER Games is also promising new weapons and a long list of improvements requested by the community. The studio plans to detail Rogue Ops through a three-part series of developer diaries ahead of release.

Update 0.5 will include a soft wipe

The move to Rogue Ops will require a soft wipe, but existing players will not lose all of their progression.

Players who participated in Update 0.4 will retain their rank, unlocked apparel, vendor levels and completed tasks. Their locker contents and money will be reset.

According to MADFINGER Games, this partial reset is necessary to rebalance the in-game economy around the systems introduced with Update 0.5 while allowing players to keep the progression they have already earned.

A major October update for multiplayer squads

For groups playing Gray Zone Warfare together, October 22 is shaping up to be an important date. Rogue Ops combines a partial economy reset with new progression systems, new activities and additional areas to explore.

The move into Alpha also shows that development is entering a new phase. MADFINGER Games will reveal more details in the weeks leading up to launch, including community-requested improvements that have not yet been fully detailed.
