Hytale 0.7.3 fixes failed server connections and reduces exploration lag
A connection that stalls for twenty seconds before failing can stop a multiplayer session before it starts. Hytale hotfix 0.7.3, released on October 21, 2026, addresses that specific problem alongside several networking and server improvements.
For players, the focus is getting into a world more reliably. For administrators, the update also changes CPU usage during terrain generation, introduces optional Sentry error reporting and broadens Linux compatibility for the game's networking library.
The key distinction: this is a technical hotfix following Update 7. Its relevance to a community depends on the connection issues, hardware and operating system involved; the notes do not promise the same performance gain on every server.
More reliable connections to Hytale servers
The headline fix concerns a lost network packet during connection. Previously, joining could hang for twenty seconds and then fail. Version 0.7.3 corrects that behaviour. It also fixes a rare failure when a connection certificate renews at the exact moment a player joins.
IPv6 handling improves too, including packet sizing on Linux. A separate stability fix replaces a crash caused by an invalid server packet, or running out of memory while reading one, with the connection-failure screen.
If your community has reported these symptoms, ask affected players to repeat the same join attempt after updating. Record whether the failure occurs before entering the world or during play: that distinction makes a remaining problem easier to describe to support.
Less exploration lag on specific CPU configurations
Hytale now allocates fewer CPU threads to world generation on servers with 4, 6 or 7 processor threads. The developers say this reduces lag when exploring new terrain on those machines. A corresponding adjustment applies to singleplayer PCs with four processor threads.
This is a targeted change to how generation work is distributed. Administrators should check the resources visible to their server process before assuming that their installation falls into one of those groups.
For a useful comparison, observe exploration with a similar number of players and the same plugins enabled. Travelling through an established settlement and generating an unexplored area exercise different workloads; comparing the two would make any apparent improvement harder to interpret.
Optional Sentry reporting for server and plugin errors
The new SentryDsn key in config.json lets server owners direct error reports to their own Sentry project. Errors from third-party plugins can also reach that project, including loading failures, event-listener failures and certain severe errors.
Leaving the key unset preserves existing behaviour. An empty value disables error reporting, and singleplayer worlds ignore the setting. This makes it an optional administration tool rather than a requirement for playing or running a server.
For communities using several plugins, centralized reports can help organize investigation. Administrators should still retain the relevant logs and the circumstances of a failure when following up with a plugin developer.
Broader Linux compatibility for QUIC
The QUIC networking library used by the game and server now supports Linux systems with glibc 2.28 or newer, compared with the previous minimum of 2.38. QUIC is part of the game's network transport; glibc is a core Linux system library.
This lowers one compatibility requirement. It should not be read as confirmation that every older Linux distribution meets all of Hytale's server requirements.
What to check before your next multiplayer session
For an existing community, a short, repeatable check is more useful than assuming that every reported connection issue has disappeared:
- Check which server build is available in your hosting panel and which build is actually running.
- Have players update their clients before repeating a previously failing connection attempt.
- Compare exploration under similar conditions, and keep a timestamped log excerpt if a problem persists.
On VeryGames, check the version available for your installation before scheduling the update. The official release notes establish what 0.7.3 changes; availability on an individual hosted server needs to be checked separately.
